Picture the start of 2nd shift: a hot job due by morning, a grinding queue to balance, and a CNC throwing an alarm. You step in, triage the plan, coach a setup, adjust a program, verify a critical dimension, and keep production moving—safely and to spec. That’s the craft of leading our Tool & Die CNC operation.
Focus areas
People leadership: coordinate CNC machinists, toolmakers, and support teammates to sustain throughput across machining, grinding, and toolmaking.
Planning: prioritize nightly work to satisfy department schedules and customer deadlines.
Quality: own dimensional accuracy—perform in-process checks and final inspections to meet print and tolerance targets.
Development: mentor on setups, machining best practices, and safety—growing confidence and capability on the floor.
Cross-functional problem solving: partner with supervisors, engineers, and maintenance to remove tooling/equipment barriers.
Traceability: complete work orders, shift reports, and quality documentation with care and accuracy.
Readiness: watch raw materials, tooling, and consumables; report shortages and initiate maintenance as needed.
Safety and 5S: maintain a clean, organized, OSHA-compliant workplace.
Improvement: contribute to initiatives that raise efficiency, quality, and team performance.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade schooling preferred.
5+ years within CNC machining, tool & die, or precision manufacturing.
Minimum 2 years leading or serving as a lead in a machining setting.
Working mastery of CNC operations, G&M code, tooling/setup methodology, and blueprint reading.
Proficient with micrometers, calipers, and gauges; able to interpret GD&T.Excellent communication, organization, and analytical problem-solving.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for long stretches.
