1st Shift Manual Machinist

Responsibilities

• Operate manual machines – vertical mill – lathe – jig grinder – drill press – surface grinder – cut off saw etc.
• Calculate mathematical adjustments needed by interpreting standard & metric QA lab readouts and drawings.
• Ability to read and decipher weld fixture component blueprints.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Ability to machine/re-machine new components for fixtures and gages.
• Able to read precise measuring & test equipment – micrometers, calipers, height gauge, dial indicator.
• Able to maintain low/close tolerances on fixtures and finished good parts.
• Understand how to select cutting tools for various metals.
• Understand feed and speeds for manual machining applications.
• Ability to operate/bypass robotic weld fixture controls for quality checks.
• Perform PM and maintain robotic weld fixtures.
• Complete PM documents and file accordingly.
• Perform other duties as needed within the tooling department.

• Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge of machine set‑up, controls, and operation of manual machines.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical/vocational training in machining highly desired.
• Proficient at math with analytical abilities.
• Ability to work with others as well as independently with little supervision.
• Ability to receive and follow directions to execute the needs and functions of the job description.
• Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed.
• Excellent attendance.
• Adhere to company Environmental, Health, and Safety processes.
• Manipulate medium to large objects, materials, or tools on a routine basis.
• Move moderately heavy objects on a routine, daily basis.
• Apply a specific level of strength to move an object.
• Use arms/legs continually and repeatedly over an extended period.
• Respond to sights and sounds.
• Move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time.
• Adjust body position while performing tasks.
