Position Overview
The Fabrication Lead directs the fabrication and assembly of pipe products.
Key Job Responsibilities- Fabricate pipes to required customizations
- Manage all Work Orders associated with fabrication
- Supervise the work team in planning and execution of a wide variety of fabrication projects
- Plan resource requirements based on Work Orders and production plans
- Foster a spirit of teamwork within the department
- Track, assign, and monitor work orders
- Ensure timeliness, safety, and quality of material movement
- Maintain safe work practices, ensuring crews follow safe practices and HSE programs, including Lock‑out Tag‑out
- Train employees on changes in safety regulations, work policies, and standards in conjunction with the Production Supervisor and EHS Manager
- Develop the skills and abilities of team members
- Ensure all department employees complete required training
- Perform any other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of team‑leading practices and techniques
- Effectively coordinate and supervise multiple work orders
- Make decisions independently
- Commit to continual improvement and effective quality management systems
- Exhibit a professional manner and maintain constructive working relationships
- Read blueprints and follow product specification instructions
- Understand the production and Work Order process
- Manage people effectively
- High school diploma
- Two years of pipe or structural fabrication experience
- Work performed in a non‑climate‑controlled shop environment
- Exposed to various elements such as hot and cold temperatures
- Stand and/or walk for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day with a lunch break, up to 6 days per week
- Stand, walk, bend, twist, reach (forward and overhead), and maintain balance regularly
- Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be required
- Frequent bending at the waist and twisting movements are required
- Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds, including from floor to shoulder height and from waist to shoulder height
- Occasional carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds over short distances (up to 30 feet)
- Frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, and coordination tasks is required
- Requires normal vision, hand‑eye coordination, and absence of color blindness
- Hearing ability is required; earplugs recommended
- Climbing ladders may be required frequently; climbing stairs or steps may occur occasionally
- Proper PPE including steel‑toe boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat provided by the company is required in the manufacturing facility
