Supervisor, Production Operations in Springfield, MO

The Production Supervisor is a hands‑on leader who creates an environment where people, safety, quality, and performance thrive. By coaching and developing Chemical Operators, executing the production schedule, and promoting operational excellence, this role helps ensure pharmaceutical products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with cGMP requirements. Working closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other cross‑functional teams, the Production Supervisor removes barriers, solves problems, and drives continuous improvement while delivering exceptional results for our customers.

Essential Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Chemical Operators by establishing clear performance expectations, providing ongoing feedback, recognizing strong performance, and addressing performance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Schedule employee work assignments, overtime, vacation coverage, and staffing to support production requirements while maintaining accurate employee time records.
  • Train, coach, and develop Chemical Operators and Pilot Plant Technicians on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, batch documentation, SOPs, safety requirements, change control, and Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and ensure employees remain current on procedural, equipment, and regulatory changes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous learning.
Production Operations
  • Lead daily manufacturing activities to safely and efficiently execute the production schedule while meeting quality, delivery, and business objectives.
  • Monitor plant conditions and operator performance to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Utilize manufacturing systems to support work order management, production scheduling, raw material coordination, inventory transactions, and operational reporting.
  • Communicate production status, operational risks, staffing concerns, and production priorities to Production Management and cross‑functional partners.
  • Review batch records and production documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Provide coaching and retraining to improve documentation quality and Right First Time execution.
  • Initiate, review, and support Management of Change (MOC), deviations, corrective actions, and other quality system documentation as required.
  • Promote a culture of quality by reinforcing compliance expectations and promptly addressing issues that could impact product quality or regulatory compliance.
Safety, Environmental & Emergency Response
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all environmental, health, safety, Process Safety Management (PSM), and site safety requirements.
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors while promoting proactive risk identification and hazard mitigation.
  • Issue hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and other required permits in accordance with site procedures.
  • Support hazardous waste management activities in accordance with applicable environmental regulations. This may include making waste determinations, waste profiling with TSDFs, labeling hazardous waste containers, conducting container inspections, and supporting spill response and emergency activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Serve as Incident Commander, as defined in the site's Emergency Response Plan, during emergency situations and ensure appropriate internal and external notifications are completed.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and operational issues while partnering with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to minimize downtime and improve operational performance.
