POSITION SUMMARY

The Safety Coordinator owns the day-to-day environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program on the production floor at Genie Recon, a remanufacturer of aerial boom lifts. This role leads from the floor, working directly with operators, supervisors, engineers, and third parties to maintain OSHA and regulatory compliance, prevent injuries and exposures, and drive measurable, sustained safety improvement. This is a hands-on, on-site position performed in a manufacturing facility with regular presence in production, warehouse, and disassembly, preparation, paint, and assembly areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following functions are essential to the successful performance of this position:

  • Own and continuously improve the site's safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct routine floor inspections, safety audits, and compliance assessments; document findings and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Identify workplace hazards and partner with supervisors and safety committee members to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA General Industry, EPA, and state and local regulations.
  • Maintain safety and health records, training documentation, and required reporting in accurate, audit-ready condition, including the OSHA 300 Log, 300A Summary, and 301 Incident Reports.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate their operational impact to leadership.
  • Lead investigations of injuries, near misses, and property damage; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Coordinate injury reporting and support workers' compensation case management, including return-to-work coordination.
  • Deliver new-hire safety orientation and ongoing training on core programs, including Aerial Work Platforms (MEWP), Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication (Haz Com), machine guarding, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, and hearing conservation.
  • Facilitate the safety committee, Safety Bites, and safety meetings, and coach supervisors on safety leadership and accountability.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA) across machines and processes and build a culture of measurable, sustained improvement.
  • Track and report leading and lagging indicators, including near-miss rate, first-aid events, TRIR, and DART, to management.
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness.
  • Support the Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program in coordination with the EHS Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and regulatory standards and promote safe work practices at all times.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and continuous quality improvement objectives.
  • Actively participate in and support the principles of Open-Book Management.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or fabrication environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) standards and core manufacturing safety programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and deliver effective training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at every level from operator to management.
  • Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage EHS priorities independently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • First Aid/CPR provider certification;
    First Aid/CPR trainer certification.
  • Experience with aerial work platforms, remanufacturing, or heavy equipment environments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, which includes criminal history and drug screening.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee medical information, injury records, investigation findings, and other sensitive EHS-related information in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is performed on the production floor and in an office setting within a manufacturing facility. The role requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching while conducting inspections, investigations, and training across production, warehouse, and inventory areas. The employee must be able to access elevated work platforms and confined or restricted areas as needed to assess hazards.
