Description
Ministry Function:
The Public Engagement Specialist supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope (COH) by passionately and accurately communicating information about the ministry of Convoy of Hope. This individual will provide assistance in social media, media contacts, public speaking, and tours.
- Provides assistance to the VP-Public Engagement in sending news releases, coordinating media coverage, monitoring media coverage, and communicating with the media and Convoy’s PR representatives.
- Maintains and updates the media contact list.
- Maintains the organization’s tour plan, coordinates tours, and provides support in leading tours.
- Speaks on behalf of COH at church, civic, organizational and community events as requested by the VP-Public Engagement.
- Works to fulfill various requests from other parts of the organization.
- Provides assistance to the Social Media Manager in creating content and moderating social channels on behalf of the organization and its initiatives.
- Assists in the development of relationships with community groups, associations, churches, and other organizations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations or equivalent relevant experience required.
- Experience in Communications, Media, Marketing or Public Speaking required.
- Compassion ministry experience preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel both internationally and domestically, on an infrequent basis.
- Proficient in use of PC/MAC and software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Gmail, Word, Excel, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and various photo software packages.
- Strong organizational skills for handling several projects at one time.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for dealing with media, staff, contractors, vendors, and tenants.
- Attends and actively participates in COH At Home Week meetings and activities as a required responsibility to the organization and fellow team members.
- Serve as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
- Ability to positively represent the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
- As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that each staff member embraces the organization's religious purposes for which it exists and not only agrees with its Statement of Faith but demonstrates it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
