West Central Electric Cooperative (WCE) is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Marketing & Economic Development Coordinator to lead the cooperative’s marketing and communications efforts while advancing economic development initiatives throughout our service territory. This position works closely with community leaders, developers, businesses, government agencies, and members to promote growth, strengthen communities, and support the cooperative’s strategic goals.
The successful candidate will also collaborate with the Member Services Department on marketing initiatives, member education, community outreach, and other member-facing activities as business needs require.
What You’ll Do Economic Development- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, businesses, developers, chambers of commerce, educational institutions, government agencies, and economic development partners.
- Assist local communities in marketing their areas, identifying development opportunities, and navigating available incentive programs and infrastructure investments.
- Support the development and implementation of WCE’s economic development strategies, policies, and business attraction, retention, and expansion initiatives.
- Promote WCE affiliate business parks by assisting prospective businesses through the sale or lease process and coordinating promotional activities.
- Serve as WCE’s liaison for assigned businesses, governmental organizations, workforce development partners, and regional planning agencies.
- Represent WCE at chamber events, career fairs, workforce councils, industry meetings, leadership programs, and other community functions.
- Maintain knowledge of economic development trends, business incentives, governmental regulations, and available grant and loan programs.
- Assist with grant applications, Requests for Information (RFIs), site selection inquiries, contracts, and other documentation supporting community and business development.
- Represent WCE on local, regional, statewide, and national economic development initiatives, committees, and boards as assigned.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies that promote WCE programs, services, and community initiatives.
- Create and manage content for social media, newsletters, website, email campaigns, print materials, and other member communications.
- Coordinate branding and promotional materials for cooperative events, economic development efforts, and community outreach.
- Assist with member education campaigns including Smart Hub, paperless billing, energy efficiency programs, annual meeting communications, and other cooperative initiatives.
- Coordinate marketing plans and promotional materials with the Member Services Department.
- Support the Member Services Department with member outreach, education, and special projects as needed.
- Assist with cooperative events, annual meeting activities, community events, and member engagement initiatives.
- Serve as a backup resource for member-facing activities during peak workloads or staff absences.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while positively representing West Central Electric Cooperative.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Cooperative’s mission and operational needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Economic Development, Public Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years of experience in marketing, communications, economic development, community development, or a related field.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with community leaders, developers, government officials, businesses, and cooperative members.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of economic development incentives, grant opportunities, and workforce development programs is preferred.
