Overview

The International Institute of Southwest Missouri (IISMO) is seeking a dedicated and organized Resettlement Housing Coordinator to help newly arrived refugees and immigrants access safe, stable, and welcoming housing as they begin their lives in the Springfield area. This role is essential in building strong partnerships with local landlords, property managers, and leasing companies to secure affordable housing options that meet safety and occupancy requirements.

Key Responsibilities Housing Identification & Acquisition (40%)
  • Identify and secure rental properties within the Springfield service area.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, leasing companies, and property managers.
  • Maintain an updated list of available housing options.
  • Ensure compliance with Equal Housing guidelines.
  • Protect sensitive and confidential client information.
Housing Inspection, Preparation & Support (50%)
  • Conduct home safety inspections to ensure units meet occupancy and safety standards.
  • Assist with apartment setups and arrival preparations for incoming families.
  • Follow up on housing issues with clients, landlords, internal staff, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers on airport arrival schedules and apartment readiness.
  • Report concerns and keep supervisors informed of daily housing activities.
  • Work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
Additional Responsibilities (10%)
  • Engage with community members and partners on housing-related initiatives.
  • Participate in agency and departmental meetings, including weekly IISMO staff meetings.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented, and client-centered work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support department and agency operations.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    High school diploma required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in team settings.
  • Class E driving license needed.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and benefits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Professional, courteous, and client-centered demeanor.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Self-directed and capable of managing time and tasks independently.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and needs.
