We are growing rapidly, and our ability to secure grants is essential to expanding our impact.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Pro Bono Grant Writer to support our mission by identifying funding opportunities and preparing compelling grant proposals. This is a great opportunity for an experienced writer—or an emerging grant professional—to contribute meaningfully to an organization making a measurable difference in the lives of women and girls of color.
Key Responsibilities- Research federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with WOCOTM programs
- Write, edit, and submit grant letters of intent (LOIs), full proposals, and reports
- Maintain grants calendar and meet internal submission timelines
- Collaborate with CEO/Founder and Executive Director and program leads to gather needed program information
- Assist in developing budgets and supporting documentation for grant applications
- Track submitted grants and outcomes
- Support grant compliance and reporting requirements (as needed)
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills
- Previous experience with grant writing preferred, but not required
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Passion for equity, advocacy, and community empowerment
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Familiarity with nonprofit funding a plus
- Experience contributing to a growing nonprofit serving women and girls of color
- Opportunities to build a portfolio of grant proposals
- Collaboration with mission-driven leadership
- Professional reference and Linked In recommendation upon successful volunteer service
Flexible; typically 5–10 hours per week
(Volunteer role — no compensation, no employee relationship per CA law.)
LocationRemote (Sacramento, CA–based organization - International)
