Job Summary

Responsible for developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with special focus on four and five figure multi‑year gifts to support the foundation’s funding priorities. This position has a direct impact on the department’s reputation among donors, as well as on the financial and operational performance of the department.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Oversees portfolio of 150‑200 donors and prospects and participates in each step of the donor pipeline including identification, qualification through research, cultivation, briefing, request for support, and prompt follow‑up, stewardship, and recognition.
  • Develops individual donor strategies, along with materials, to renew and upgrade donor gifts.
  • Collaborates with the Development Team to enhance relationships and create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities.
  • Participates in departmental portfolio review process and partners in maintaining an organized system for donor stewardship by updating constituent records, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for major individual gift fundraising and cultivating and soliciting prospects capable of gifts at the $10K+ level.
  • Utilizes broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising. Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle: (1) initiates contacts with potential donors; (2) develops appropriate cultivation strategies for them; (3) moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) makes solicitations when appropriate; (5) maintains stewardship contacts with donors.
  • Understands the needs and interest of major donors in order to develop relationships between them and the foundation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or education

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
