Open Space STL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving and sustaining land, water, and natural resources in the Greater St. Louis region. Our organization has a history of restoring and supporting the Meramec River, establishing various conservation areas and parks, and advocating for proper land use. Through events like Operation Clean Stream and Operation Wild Lands, Open Space STL raises awareness about conservation and clean water and organizes communities to care for and restore their natural environment.

Role Description

This Ameri Corps VISTA (volunteer in service to America) will be sponsored by Stream Teams United (The Missouri Stream Team Watershed Coalition) and Open Space STL. As an Ameri Corps VISTA, you will help:

  • Increase capacity of education and environmental stewardship projects
  • Help recruit, train, and manage volunteers for environmental education and stewardship projects
  • Identify donors, sponsors, grants, and partners for building the capacity of environmental education and stewardship programs.

Qualifications
  • Communication abilities
  • Basic knowledge of conservation practices
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders including youth, adults, and diverse communities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for environmental conservation and sustainability
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising or willing to learn
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, sustainability, social work, or relevant/equivalent work experience
  • Valid driver's license
