Major Duties- Responsible for functioning within the scope of practice dictated by the authority of the Nurse Practice Act and Bureau of Prisons. Maintaining a current LPN license is a requirement of this position. Provides a full range of patient care to chronically ill dialysis inmates, under the supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Nurse, with guidance from the Charge Nurse. Prepares patients for specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to standard protocols.
Maintains records of medications given. Reports and records adverse reactions through approved reporting mechanisms. Transcribes and carries out the wide variety of physician's orders according to established nursing policies pertaining to orders. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
