Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Med Intermediate unit (4B) on nights, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Inpatient cardiac med/surgical intermediate unit (4B) in a hospital setting
- 31-bed unit serving a cardiac and med/surg patient population
- Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratios: 1:5–1:6 on days; 1:6–1:8 on nights (estimates)
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitoring, and lift equipment
- EMR:
Epic - Floating on a rotational basis required
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
- Delivers direct patient care across all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- The facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
- The facility holds an 'A' grade from The Leapfrog Group's Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grade
- Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, or non-scrub attire is not permitted
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a mandatory 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
- RTO up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; no RTO approved in the first week
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Certifications may not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of a scheduled renewal is provided
- Active RN license in Missouri or eligible for MO licensure (compact license accepted); must be active at time of consideration
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
- BLS certification from AHA required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start (candidates may be considered without it if obtained before the start date)
- ACLS from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac telemetry experience required
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Flu vaccination required from November 1 – April 1; declinations not accepted
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, with significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning of patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs
