Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neurology/Telemetry night shift position in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Neurology/Telemetry unit (Neuro 6C) in a hospital setting with 32 beds
- Patient population includes neurological, medical, and med-tele patients
- Night shift schedule, 19:00–07:00 (7pm–7am)
- Patient ratios on nights range from 1:6 to 1:7 (ratios are not guaranteed)
- Floating is required on a rotational basis
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
- EMR:
Epic experience required - Equipment includes telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
- 13-week contract
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidates must be available for the full orientation week
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs are required; no other scrub colors are accepted
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to local contract terms
- RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; no RTO will be approved during the first week
- Only one holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- The facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact state currently in hand
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required;
Canadian SINs are not accepted - BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start date
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- 1 year of inpatient neuro experience preferred
- No gaps in employment of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and lift/turn patients with assistance
