Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. Reports to the Plasma Center Manager and works under guidance of the Center Physician.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility per SOPs; handle medical emergencies, develop standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats.
- Provide center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) in line with Bio Life Medical Affairs guidance.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate‑level nursing program with state requirements.
- State license or certification (LPN or LVN) in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience.
- Hourly wage range: $23.04 – $31.68 (U.S. – Springfield, MO).

- Up to 80 hours sick time per year; up to 120 hours paid vacation (new hires).
