The Pulmonary Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurses provide high-quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions such as pre and post lung transplant, pulmonary hypertension, ventilator-dependent weaning, and special drips while working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely and effective treatment. The unit is supported by an Advanced Practice Nurse and multiple physician teams. This 9-bed unit with private rooms focuses on weaning respiratory support and includes a multidisciplinary therapy team for patient rehabilitation.
RolePurpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participate in professional development.
- Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other interprofessional team members and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plan and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
