Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. It has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 16‑bed inpatient unit caring for post‑operative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients who no longer require intensive CVR monitoring.
RolePurpose
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
- Educate patients and families on illness or injury management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage in professional development and continuous learning.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members and families.
- Ensure clear communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
- Assess patient preferences, barriers to involvement, and cultural, spiritual, and population‑specific needs.
- Maintain constant alertness and safe work practices as a safety‑sensitive position.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
None required. - Supervisor

None required. - License: RN.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in critical care preferred.
