ICU Nurse
Additional Information About the Role
The Rapid Response/ACT RN serves as a hospital-wide critical care resource, providing expert support across the Barnes-Jewish Hospital campus. This highly autonomous role partners with bedside nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to assess patient deterioration, respond to rapid response and difficult airway events, facilitate escalation of care, and help ensure patients receive timely interventions when clinical conditions change.
Rapid Response RN nurses bring critical care experience to every care environment, supporting inpatient units and outpatient areas. Responsibilities may include acute patient assessment, IV access, blood draws, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and real-time clinical consultation. Team members are frequently called upon to serve as a second set of eyes, helping validate concerns, coordinate resources, and support complex clinical decision‑making for patients requiring a higher level of care.
This role is ideal for experienced critical care nurses who enjoy fast‑paced problem‑solving, collaboration, mentorship, and practicing at the top of their license outside of a traditional ICU setting. Nurses with backgrounds in Trauma, Neuro, Burn, CVICU, and Medical/Surgical ICU environments are especially well positioned for success.
