Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St.
Louis Children’s Hospital.

Role Purpose
Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed.
Responsibilities- Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
- Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
- Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices, including participation in journal club, facilitation of practice change based on new knowledge, recommendation of new standards of care or revisions to current standards, and dissemination of new knowledge obtained from relevant conferences or continuing education.
- Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of the patient and family experience, and adjusts care provided to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.
