The Center for Advanced Medicine – South County is a new, 84,500‑square‑foot outpatient facility jointly owned by Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes‑Jewish Hospital. Opening in late spring 2016, it will provide outpatient surgery, imaging, lab, therapy, and physician subspecialty offices for Orthopaedic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Surgery, and OB/GYN.
Provides direct patient care activities—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—within the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promote patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
- Educate patients and families on illness or injury management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage in professional development.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
- Proactively plan and communicate care plans across the continuum of care.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs based on care standards.
- Assess patient preferences and obstacles to care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely as this is a safety‑sensitive position.
- Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience: No prior nursing experience required
