Job SummaryPre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who participates in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of an RN preceptor, provides patient care within scope of role and professional standards, delivering age appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions.
Primary Responsibilities- Under the direction of the RN Preceptor, perform delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in nursing care activities.
- Perform patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age appropriate needs; assess nutrition, pain management, and signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect to develop, evaluate, and modify patient’s plan of care.
- Develop a realistic, comprehensive patient-family education plan, using appropriate resources and methods, and provide health education and coaching.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including processing of physician orders and monitoring delivery of nursing care given by team members based on patient needs and professional judgment.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Participate in training to understand and perform patient care.
- Complete competency requirements satisfactorily.
- Seek assistance and ask questions as needed to learn and understand role.
- Demonstrate professional nursing standards and use the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to evolving health and care needs.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- For Illinois: official NCLEX pass score.
- No experience required.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).
- For Illinois:
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) within 3 months of NCLEX pass date; official NCLEX pass letter. - For Missouri and Oklahoma:
Status of fail on the NCLEX within 3 months of graduation date; NCLEX test date within 30 days. - For Wisconsin:
Begin working with a Wisconsin Nursing Temporary Permit; status of fail on the NCLEX within 3 months of graduation date; NCLEX test date within 30 days.
