The Washington University Heart Care Institute in West County offers outpatient services including cardiac catheterization, cardiovascular diagnostic services, cardiac rehabilitation and wellness programs. Located on Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital’s campus, the Heart Care Institute operates Monday through Friday during normal business hours. The services are closed on weekends and holidays. The building is centrally located in Creve Coeur in a beautiful park‑like setting.
OutpatientOpportunity
- PRN position – outpatient role in a cardiac diagnostic lab.
- (2) shifts within 6 weeks.
- Monday – Friday, days (7:30 am – 4:00 pm).
- No weekends, no holidays, no on‑call.
- Requires 2 years RN experience in a cardiac space.
- ADN/BSN/MSN.
- Stress test experience.
- Proficient IV experience.
- EKG experience.
- Provide direct patient care to identified patients in collaboration with providers and care team to assess, develop and implement a plan of care.
- Offer oversight and guidance to clinical staff working in the clinic and support providers with daily patient management.
- Collaborate with PCPs and specialists to develop and implement care plans to maximize healthcare outcomes and facilitate wellness, with periodic review according to department protocols.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patient’s physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
- Ensure that clinical protocols and patient assessment guidelines are followed in accordance with standard operating procedures and compliance guidelines.
- Support providers in appropriately documenting patient assessment and treatment protocols in compliance with standards.
- Provide patient education and support, including verbal and written instructions, using appropriate tools and techniques to assess the patient’s and/or family’s ability to receive education.
- Take initiative to problem‑solve and demonstrate critical‑thinking skills.
- Maintain constant state of alertness and work safely; position is safety‑sensitive.
- Education:
Nursing Diploma/Associate’s Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
2–5 years RN experience. - License/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS). - Supervisor experience:
None.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- 5–10 years RN experience.
