Hospital Medicine - Nurse Practitioner​/Physician Assistant

Job Description

The University of Missouri School of Medicine's Division of Hospital Medicine is pleased to announce that the Department of Medicine's Hospitalist Division is seeking nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants with 2+ years of experience in inpatient or post-acute care settings to join their patient-centered care team.

• Independently provide professional medical support services on the Medicine inpatient floors by collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
• Order and perform diagnostic procedures; monitor patient condition, lab values, and results of diagnostic procedures; and develop treatment goals.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians in difficult or complicated cases and as agreed upon in collaborative agreement.
• Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in areas of expertise.
• Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to surgeons and physicians.
• Assist in the identification of trends related to patients and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree required.
• Graduation from an AMA accredited physician assistant program.
• May possess a specialty certificate from the NCCPA in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry.
• Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.

• Master’s degree required.
• Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
• May possess a specialty certificate from the ANCC, AANPCB, AACN, PCNB, or NCC.
• Licensure as a registered professional nurse in Missouri and must be granted a “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
