Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neurology/Telemetry unit (6C) in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details
  • Night shift position on a 32-bed Neurology/Telemetry unit (6C) in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes neurological, medical, and med-telemetry patients
  • Night shift patient ratios range from 1:6 to 1:7 (ratios not guaranteed)
  • Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
  • EMR:
    Epic (experience required)
  • Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • 13-week contract with 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Weekend hours as required by the facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required on a rotational basis
Requirements
  • Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start (candidates may be considered without it if obtained before the start date)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
  • Experience and competence in drug titration required
  • Inpatient experience only (no outpatient experience considered)
  • 1 year of inpatient neuro experience preferred
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs are not accepted)
  • All certifications must be active and not expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment (unless documented renewal is scheduled)
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
Additional Information
  • Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
  • Night shift orientation takes place on day shift — candidates must be available the full orientation week
  • Black scrubs required; no other scrub colors are acceptable
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
  • Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week of the assignment
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
  • This facility is a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for the position but are subject to a reduced pay rate
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility before a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
