Overview

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is a 102-bed community hospital that serves families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including the Siteman Cancer Center, Breast Health and Women’s Center, Cardiology Center, Neurosurgery Center, and Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. It is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and holds Level II stroke certification. In addition, the medical office building hosts specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery, and pulmonology, along with outpatient services such as physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio‑pulmonary rehabilitation.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.

• Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other interprofessional team members and the patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
