Education:

Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program;
Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Licensure:
Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.

NOTE:

one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support); PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization); S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire;

LPN-IV Certification must be previously completed or successful completion of course within 3 months of hire for LPNs in Missouri;
Other unit-specific certifications as required.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision, responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures
• Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification
• Interviews donors and performs medical history reviews to obtain necessary information to determine suitability to donate plasma
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, responds to medically related questions and provides information to staff on donor suitability

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
