Assists the Director of Nursing; plans, develops, organizes, and coordinates day‑to‑day functions of the unit.
Responsibilities- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and directs nursing services for residents on the unit.
- Ensures compliance with current applicable federal, state and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.
- Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by staff, making appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing.
- Maintains adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, and equipment to meet resident needs.
- Assists in developing written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of nursing needs for each resident.
- Assigns nursing/aide duties as indicated.
- Encourages staff to attend and participate in outside training programs and schedules times as appropriate.
- Reviews nurses’ notes to verify descriptive, compliant documentation.
- Promotes dignity, respect, and rights of all residents; establishes a culture of compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures, maintains confidentiality of PHI, and reports noncompliance, abuse or neglect.
- Participates in life safety and emergency drills, carrying out duties as part of the emergency plan.
- Reports work‑related injuries and occupational exposures to supervision as per facility policy.
- Completes training, competency skills, and assigned portions of MDS and care‑plan meetings.
- Participates in QAPI or facility assessment activities and performance improvement committees.
- Accepts licensed nurse assignments as staffing needs require.
- Uses proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to residents.
- Licensed practical nurse (LPN) with a valid license in the state of practice.
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum two (2) years of direct care experience in long‑term care, restorative or geriatric settings as an LPN.
- Minimum one (1) year of nursing management experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Meeting all state licensing or certification requirements and no disciplinary action against license.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Independent decision‑making ability when warranted.
- Tactful handling of residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and general public.
- Patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult situations.
- Physical ability to move intermittently, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift overhead as required.
- Ability to work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic computer skills, including navigation of electronic medical record systems.
- Leadership and supervisory ability, and willingness to work harmoniously with other staff.

Compliance will be a factor in evaluating job performance. Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
