BLS, ACLS, PALS from AHA, TNCC, NIHSS (must obtain prior to start) Must-Have Skills/
Experience:
1 year Emergency Department experience in a Level 1 facility or 2 years in a Level 2 facility Experience in a busy urban trauma center High acuity experience preferred
Description:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort.
Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with established guidelines. Demonstrates skill in human relations and communications. Must have demonstrated clinical expertise relevant to this area of responsibility. Requires physical ability to stand and walk most of the time on duty. Lifts and pushes patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. Usually works in a clean, air-conditioned environment. May require pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs.
Kneeling, crouching, and crawling are minimal.
