American Traveler is hiring a Med-Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift role requiring at least 1 year of tele experience and NIHSS certification.
Details- Medical-surgical telemetry unit with 32 beds
- Patient population includes med/med-tele patients and those with developmental delays
- Patient ratios vary: days 1:5-1:6, nights 1:6-1:7 (not guaranteed)
- Uses tele monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, and tube feeding pumps
- Epic EMR used
- Night shift, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
- Weekend hours as required by facility
- No call requirements
- Rotational floating required
- Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available for the entire orientation week
- Black scrubs required
- Active RN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri, or compact RN license
- BLS certification from AHA required
- NIHSS certification required (may start without it but must obtain prior to start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient tele experience required
- Experience and competence in drug titration required
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
- Provide direct patient care for post-trauma, surgical, and medical comorbidity patients using the full nursing process
- Coordinate care with ancillary departments and evaluate care provided by other caregivers
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with facility mission and values
- Physical demands include standing/walking most of shift, frequent bending, lifting, and turning patients, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs
- High risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
- Up to 5 days of RTO allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO not approved in first week
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Local candidates accepted, though local bill rate is reduced
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year break or transfer to a facility outside the radius
