Job TitleTravel RN – Cardiac Surgery Intermediate / Step Down (Nights)
LocationSpringfield, MO | Acute Care
Schedule / Job TypeContract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Night Shift (19:00–07:00) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for cardiac/thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, respiratory distress, alcohol withdrawal, and insulin drip patients
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Operate and manage specialized equipment including Philips monitors, chest tubes, arterial lines, wound vacs, pacer boxes, pacing wires, EKOS, Nicom, BiPAP, and Airvo
- Float on a rotational basis to critical care cluster or med/surg as needed
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards
- Function within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold Missouri licensure
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Step Down/PCU experience
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1 (declinations are not accepted)
- Experience with cardiac and thoracic surgery patient populations
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Familiarity with patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1 in a step down or PCU environment
- Team-oriented approach with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Work within a nationally recognized, high-acuity facility holding a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center designation and multiple quality and safety distinctions
- Gain experience in a dynamic cardiac and surgical step down unit utilizing advanced monitoring and therapeutic equipment
