Job Overview
As a Coffee Shop Barista, you will review and fill customer orders, handle food safely, keep the work area clean and neat, and provide courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.
Responsibilities- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile and addressing them by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and noting product suggestions or requests.
- Answer the telephone promptly and take customer orders.
- Takes customer orders at the counter and runs the department registers, receives payment, makes change, and processes refunds when applicable.
- Works with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Handle food in a safe manner, review the status and appearance of food for freshness, and maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
- Ensure that an adequate food supply is ready and on hand, develop or follow a production list, and anticipate product needs on a daily basis.
- Prepare and replenish product as necessary, check inventory, check in product, put product away, and review invoices.
- Remove trash in a timely manner and adhere to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
- Wash dishes as necessary, price products for customers, order product and supplies, and assist in other areas of the store as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Must have the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count and record transactions.
- Possess the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.
- Education:
Less than high school or equivalent experience and six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Must be able to perform medium work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activities required include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet without correction, color vision, depth perception and field of vision.
WorkingConditions
Work is conducted in a store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, possible electrical shock, and temperature extremes is expected.
Equipment UsedStandard tools and equipment used include disposal units, trash compactors, dishwashers, register systems, ice machines, pop machines, scales, and knives.
ContactDaily contact with the general public and customers. Requires communication with federal/state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
