Position Overview

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician based in St Joseph, Missouri.

• Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
• Certification Bonus of up to $700 for new ASE Certifications
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends off
• Shift hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (First Shift)

St Joseph, Missouri 64504 (MO)

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification (preferred)
• Basic tools, required
• Experience with mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
• Three or more years of relevant work experience (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• This position requires driving Ryder vehicles
• Pass any additional customer‑specific screening such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or background checks

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
• Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required, including Service Island support
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 OEM on‑line diagnostic scan‑tool software courses as required by fleet mix within 365 days
