Overview
Mercy is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II who will operate, maintain, and repair various electrical/plumbing systems and movable equipment across large hospital campuses. This position requires minimal supervision and emphasizes exceptional customer service and communication to ensure a safe working environment and support an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.
Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, and repair electrical and plumbing systems and movable equipment.
- Support a safe working environment and the Environment of Care on Mercy campuses.
- Provide exceptional customer service and effective communication with customers and team members.
- Work with supervision as required to meet department goals and project timelines.
- Education:
None - Licensure:
Must maintain a valid driver’s license - Experience:
1 to 3 years of commercial experience working with electrical, plumbing, pneumatic tube systems, beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers - Certification/Registration:
None specified - Skills and Knowledge:
- Effective oral and written communication; ability to read and understand technical manuals
- Numerical ability for testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair of equipment
- Ability to prioritize work, conceptualize, and produce finished work
- Form and spatial perception related to measuring/installing parts and equipment
- Knowledge and use of computer software such as Outlook, TMS, and/or Nuvolo
- Time and materials management to complete work with high quality and cost efficiency
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to meet department goals
- Ability to pass an oral and written competency exam prior to advancing to Maintenance Mechanic III
- General manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 2+ years of training in a Technical or Vocational School - Licensure:
Electrical and/or Plumbing - Experience:
5+ years in a facility maintenance position within a healthcare environment - Certification/Registration: ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance
