Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level

Compensation
:
Hourly base pay range of $26.73–$40.10.
New Hire Bonus
: $3,000 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duy vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges, etc.) and perform road tests to ensure proper operation.
  • Inspects, tests, and listens to equipment for malfunctions; identifies problems and generates alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory, reconcile inventory, and obtain parts from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Prioritize and manage concurrent tasks, efficiently allocating time and resources.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required.
  • Document work in Repair Orders (RO) and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings via the TRAIT application on an iOS device.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain productivity at or near standard repair times.
  • Work independently, managing one’s daily schedule.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain the service truck, conducting daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (or alternative combinations such as a degree or certification plus 5 years of experience).
  • Possession and supply of necessary hand tools for job duties.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, DOT physical, and possess a valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining until expiration, or a DOT physical if card validity is ≤4 months.
  • Eligible age of 21 years or older and a valid state driver’s license; the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Safe driving record and ability to maintain continuous safe driving status.
  • Preferred certifications within 18 months: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and 608/609 (welding).
