WORK LOCATION:

Fulbright or Blackman Water Treatment Plant

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of a Supervisor – Automation Control Engineer, performs both water treatment plant instrumentation maintenance and relief operations as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Inspects, calibrates, repairs, installs, and performs corrective and preventative maintenance on instrumentation and control systems at all water treatment and distribution sites.
• Maintains detailed records of instrument installations, calibrations, as-builts, and other pertinent data regarding control systems.
• Interprets, marks up, and develops electrical schematics.
• Trains other personnel regarding instrumentation activities.
• Coordinates with Operations and all necessary personnel so that work is performed in a safe manner, maintaining regulatory compliance, and meeting customer demands.
• Acquires training and certification as deemed necessary by management.
• Acts as a Haz Mat Specialist and Haz Mat team member.
• Controls the water treatment processes at the Fulbright and Blackman plants to comply with all finished water regulations and to meet system needs. Adjusts chemical feed rates, regulates source utilization and controls in-plant processes through computer interfaces, control panels, and manual operations.
• Controls surface and ground raw water pump stations operation through computer interfaces as needed to meet plant demands and comply with water quality standards.
• Controls distribution system operation through computer interfaces and control panels. Adjusts plant outputs, booster pumps, and distribution wells to provide appropriate water quality and quantity.
• Operates standby diesel-powered equipment during emergency conditions.
• Records various readings and performs lab tests as assigned. May make minor repairs to machinery and equipment. Maintains the control room in an orderly condition.
• Complies with all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

Must meet one of the following requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Three years of recent electrical or, electronic, instrumentation, and control experience in a water plant is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent. 12 college credits in Electronics, Industrial Technology, or in related field is required. 2 years of recent electrical, or electronic, instrumentation, and control experience in an industrial environment or water plant is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree Electronics, Industrial Technology, or in related field is required. 1 year of recent electrical, or electronic, instrumentation, and control experience in an industrial environment or water plant is required.

Military mechanical training in related field can be used in lieu of educational requirements on a year for year basis.

Licensing/Certification:

- Must have a minimum of a Missouri Department of Natural Resources Public Drinking Water Treatment Operator Certificate Level D and a Distribution System Operator Certification Level DS-I or ability to obtain within six months of employment.

- Must have a minimum of a Certificate Level C within 2.5 years of employment.

- Must have a valid driver's license (minimum Class

F).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated skills in the maintenance of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and process control systems.

• Proficiency in electronics, electrical circuitry and test instruments, hydraulic-pneumatic equipment, equipment repair/tear down/troubleshooting, and safe start-up and shut-down of equipment.
