Facility Systems Technician II; Non-Exempt

Position Overview

Find your calling at Mercy! This skilled position requires advanced knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, control system maintenance and operation, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and painting. The Facility Systems Technician will work independently and support small and midsize hospitals, critical access hospitals, small inpatient/outpatient facilities, and clinics. The role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical/plumbing systems, movable equipment, physical plant equipment, furniture, walls, ceilings, and floors, while utilizing exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Education:

None.

• Valid Driver's License for all Mercy locations.
• Mercy Arkansas Hospitals:
  High Pressure Boiler Operator's License (Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing). Incumbents must have license; new hires must obtain within 1 year.
• Mercy Hospital OKC:
  Class III Boiler Operator's License (Oklahoma Dept. of Labor). Incumbents must have license; new hires within 90 days.
• Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification required for all Mercy locations. Must be achieved within 90 days.
• EPA Universal Certification (40
  
  CFR Part 82 Subpart
  
  F) required. Must be achieved within 12 months.
• Fire door maintenance training program with certificate of completion. Incumbents must have; new hires within 90 days.
• UL fire stop training with certificate of completion. Incumbents must have; new hires within 90 days.

1 to 3 years commercial experience with HVAC, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.

• Oral and written communication skills to interact with customers and follow instructions.
• Verbal ability to read and understand technical manuals.
• Numerical ability for testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and develop finished product.
• Form perception for measuring and installing parts and equipment.
• Spatial ability for interpreting blueprints or specifications.
• Knowledge and use of computer software such as Outlook, TMS, and/or Nuvolo.
• Time and materials management to complete work efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to meet department goals.
• Must achieve favorable results on oral and written competency exam before advancing to Facility Systems Technician III.
• General manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 2+ years of training in a Technical or Vocational School.

• Licensure:
  Boiler, HVAC, or Refrigeration;
  Electrical and/or Plumbing.
• Experience:
  
  5+ years in a facility maintenance position within a healthcare environment.
• Certification/Registration:
  Training in NFPA 80 regulations for fire door inspection and maintenance.
• Training in UL standards for fire stopping.
• ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance.
