Refrigeration Technician – Supermarket Rack Specialist
This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing complex supermarket rack refrigeration systems in grocery stores and cold storage environments. You will work largely independently to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize large-scale parallel compressor systems, walk-in coolers, and display cases, ensuring reliable operation and temperature control for food storage and retail environments.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair large-scale parallel compressor rack systems in supermarket and cold storage settings.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration and HVAC issues on rack systems, walk-in coolers, and display cases with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve system problems.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment in grocery stores and other food-related facilities.
- Conduct skilled assembly, installation, and adjustment of refrigeration components, controls, and related electrical systems.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete repairs, installations, and system modifications.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Document work performed, including repairs, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
- Collaborate with other technicians or team members when required to complete larger or more complex projects.
- Provide professional on-site service to clients and customers, ensuring minimal disruption to store operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with supermarket rack refrigeration systems or similar complex refrigeration equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting refrigeration and HVAC systems, including parallel compressor racks, walk-in coolers, and display cases.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Solid understanding of refrigeration principles and electrical systems relevant to commercial refrigeration.
- Skilled in performing mechanical and electrical assembly, maintenance, repairs, and installations.
- Competent use of hand tools and power tools in a service and installation environment.
- EPA Universal certification or equivalent EPA refrigeration certification.
- Experience working in foods or refrigeration environments performing maintenance and repair tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CO2 transcritical rack systems is a strong plus.
- Background in maintenance within grocery stores, cold storage, or other food-related facilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems and their integration with refrigeration equipment.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage service tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing complex systems.

Work EnvironmentThis is a field-based service role performed primarily at client and customer locations. You will work out of a service van, either independently or alongside another technician, traveling to grocery stores and cold storage facilities to install and repair racking systems, walk-in coolers, and display cases. The work is hands-on and performed in active retail and industrial environments, requiring comfort with on-site service conditions, equipment handling, and adherence to safety practices.

This is a Permanent position based out of Springfield, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $104000.00/yr. Medical Dental Vision 401(k) Life Insurance PTO
