Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on warehouse equipment, including 36-volt DC electric forklifts, 24-volt DC electric pallet jacks, propane-powered sweepers, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment problems and repair or replace damaged, worn, or defective components.
  • Perform welding, brazing, soldering, fabrication, and other repair work as needed.
  • Complete maintenance and repairs involving warehouse racking, floors, piping, and other structural components.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge and technical skills to troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, pipe-fitting, fabrication, building construction, and other warehouse maintenance issues.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and other diagnostic resources used in troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication work.
  • Use mechanical hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and precision measuring devices, including tape measures, micrometers, and drill gauges.
  • Select and order appropriate repair parts and materials.
  • Maintain accurate computerized records of preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, completed repairs, parts usage, and inventory.
  • Complete required computer data entry accurately and promptly.
  • Follow established safety practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, fall-protection requirements, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair shop and work area.
  • Perform additional warehouse equipment and facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical or material-handling equipment is required.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing electric forklifts, electric pallet jacks, propane-powered sweepers, or similar warehouse equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pipe-fitting, fabrication, and general building maintenance practices.
  • Experience repairing mechanical damage and replacing damaged, worn, or defective parts.
  • Welding, brazing, soldering, and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment using schematics, drawings, manuals, and other diagnostic resources.
  • Experience using mechanical hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and precision measuring devices.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to document maintenance, inspections, repairs, parts usage, and inventory electronically.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and respond effectively to equipment and facility maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and established maintenance procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds, with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment when needed.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work overhead.
  • Ability to work beside, underneath, and within warehouse equipment and racking.
  • Ability to safely work from ladders and elevated platforms and within confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear a safety harness and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the assigned shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed in a warehouse, repair shop, and surrounding facility areas.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, repair materials, and warehouse-related machinery.
