The Low Voltage Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Springfield, MO. This position is responsible for installing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling and equipment for systems such as data networks, security, access control, and audio/visual. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting plans or schematics, running and labeling cables, mounting and connecting devices, and ensuring all work meets safety codes and company standards.
The technician will troubleshoot basic wiring and connectivity issues, perform routine maintenance on installed systems, and document work performed. Collaboration with project managers, other technicians, and clients is expected to coordinate schedules, clarify requirements, and deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Foundational knowledge of electricity and low voltage systems, including safe work practices around electrical components.
- Skills in electrical maintenance and handling electrical equipment relevant to cabling, termination, and system support.
- Ability to troubleshoot wiring, connectivity, and device issues in low voltage installations.
- Exposure to or education in electrical engineering principles as they apply to low voltage and structured cabling (formal degree or technical training is a plus).
- Comfort working in varied environments (e.g., ceilings, crawl spaces, ladders) and lifting or carrying tools and materials as needed.
- Strong attention to detail in labeling, documentation, and adherence to codes and standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with supervisors, peers, and clients.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to pass any required background checks or site-specific clearances.
- Previous experience in low voltage wiring, telecom, or related fields is preferred but motivated candidates with relevant technical aptitude will be considered.
