OACAC Housing is seeking a motivated team member for the position of Shelter Plus Care Housing Specialist.
The Shelter Plus Care Housing Specialist provides housing case management and program administration services to participants enrolled in the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) Shelter Plus Care (SPC) Housing Program. This position supports individuals and families who are homeless and disabled by assisting them in obtaining and maintaining stable, permanent housing.
The Housing Specialist works directly with participants, landlords, and service providers to determine eligibility, conduct annual and interim re-examinations, calculate rent and Housing Assistance Payments (HAP), ensure program compliance, and coordinate supportive services using Housing First and other low-barrier service delivery models. Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
This position performs program-related duties in accordance with OACAC Housing policies and procedures and all applicable HUD, federal, state, and local regulations.
This position does not
include benefits.
Salary:$17.00 per hour
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED; knowledge of, or ability to learn, federal, state, and local housing regulations; ability to apply OACAC Housing, HUD, and DMH policies; experience or demonstrated ability in interviewing, eligibility determination, and documentation; strong customer service and communication skills; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; reliable attendance; ability to maintain confidentiality; valid Missouri driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance.
Preferred:
Experience in housing programs, case management, social services, or working with individuals experiencing homelessness or disabilities.
