Position Summary
A Driver‑CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The role includes ensuring vehicle compliance with safety standards, following regulations, completing daily vehicle condition reports, and maintaining high service and safety standards.
Principal Responsibilities- Perform complete pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
- Report safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site, reading the route sheet, following the map, and servicing each customer as identified or assigned by dispatcher/supervisor.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies to lift, load refuse, operate the compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers and others daily to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
- Clean the area around an accidental waste spill, adhering to all safety standards and policies.
- Monitor vehicle condition to maintain operational readiness, minimizing downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as appropriate on each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient service of all customers.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
- Demonstrated customer‑service skills, good time‑management, reliability, adherence to schedules, and the ability to follow Company policies and safety standards.
