Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. They ensure customers’ products arrive at the scheduled times and in good condition, building lasting relationships with customers.
Primary Responsibilities- Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Perform safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer per DOT regulations.
- Report all safety issues and necessary repairs.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading and secure freight.
- Count items and verify customer invoices.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Drive to and deliver orders according to the predetermined schedule.
- Unload and transport products to customer storage areas.
- Perform damage‑control checks, scan items, and notify supervisor per company policy.
- Verify delivery, obtain signatures, collect money when required, and secure trailer.
- Handle returns, unload damaged goods, and maintain clean trailers.
- Record hours of service and enter them into the log per Federal, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear.
- Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at shift end.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
- 12+ months commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL‑A; CDL A is required.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
- Maintain or obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
- Ability to hand‑lift and use equipment for product cases ranging from 10–35 lbs to 60–90 lbs.
