Position Overview

The Garage Mechanic is responsible for performing service work, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and DOT/State inspections within the shop for route trucks and semi-trailers. The role includes road call work as needed and ensures that all work assignments are completed while providing feedback to the Lead/Shop Foreman on work issues.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all mechanical repairs needed to all types of vehicles/equipment.
  • Ensure all vehicles/equipment are ready to safely operate.
  • Inspect trucks to verify that there are no DOT infractions and repair as required.
  • Provide preventive maintenance, repairs, and federal inspections of fleet trucks.
  • Make service calls in a timely manner.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of light/medium duty truck repair experience.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Pass DOT Physical and DOT Road Test.
  • Be able to obtain a chauffeur license for locations in IN, MI, or TN.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Work 8+ hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, stack, or carry goods for prolonged periods.
  • Read and speak English sufficiently for official communication.

Work Schedule

Shift: Varies;
Sundays and Mondays off. Requires 8+ hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation

Starting pay: $28.75/hr.
