DescriptionJob Overview:
The Materials Handler is responsible for receiving, handling, repackaging, labeling, and preparing products and materials for distribution. This position supports warehouse operations by safely moving materials throughout the facility, assembling customer orders, packaging large and oversized products, and maintaining organized work areas. The Materials Handler works closely with receiving, packaging, and warehouse teams to ensure products are processed accurately, safely, and in accordance with company quality standards.
This is an on-site hourly position and will require a daily presence at our Rector Seal Earth City, MO facility, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all company-established safety policies, quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
- Receive incoming products and materials and move them to designated warehouse locations.
- Move cartons, pallets, and materials between storage locations, workstations, packaging areas, and shipping areas.
- Open crates, pallets, cartons, bales, and other containers using approved tools and safe work practices.
- Inspect incoming products for damage, accuracy, and processing requirements.
- Repackage products into new cartons and containers as required.
- Assemble customer orders and prepare products for distribution.
- Apply labels, markings, and other identifying information accurately to products and packaging.
- Operate shrink-wrap equipment and other packaging equipment following required training and safety procedures.
- Safely handle large, bulky, and oversized products throughout the packaging process.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment in accordance with company safety guidelines.
- Maintain materials and products in designated warehouse locations.
- Maintain equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Support receiving, packaging, material movement, and warehouse operations as assigned.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Perform other related duties as directed.
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior warehouse work experience is a plus, but we are willing to train motivated candidates.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
- Familiarity with JD Edwards or other ERP systems a plus.
- High School Diploma/Equivalent or one year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment (in lieu of education).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to quality standards, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for job-related tasks.
- Fundamental math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Physical capability to work 8-12-hour shifts, stand, and lifting.
- Must have very high-quality standards and degree of accuracy and organizational skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
