** Controller*
* Our organization is seeking an experienced  
** Controller
* * to join tour client's Finance team. This individual will facilitate timely and accurate reconciliations, internal and external financial reporting, manage annual audits, and participate in the preparation of required regulatory filings. The Controller will also oversee endowment and investment accounting, cash and asset management activities, and help ensure sound financial operations and business practices. Additional responsibilities include participating in the annual budget process and serving as a liaison to various internal and external stakeholders.

This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position reporting to senior finance leadership.

** Essential Responsibilities*
* + Manage general and subsidiary ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, tax-related reporting and filings, and payroll tax review and submission.

+ Oversee annual financial statement audits, footnote preparation, and required regulatory filings.

+ Supervise, hire, train, and develop staff responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related accounting functions.

+ Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual cash management and investment/endowment accounting activities.

+ Plan and implement accounting standards updates and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

+ Oversee fixed asset accounting and asset renewal/replacement planning.

+ Manage banking activities including wire transfers, ACH transactions, fund transfers, investment transactions, and other treasury functions.

+ Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

+ Perform cash flow and liquidity analyses.

+ Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, cash management, and other financial matters.

+ Participate as an active member of a collaborative and effective team.

+ Maintain professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions.

+ Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

** Qualifications*
* ** Required*
* + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

+ Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.

+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis tools, and reporting functions.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

+

Experience with accounting or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

+ Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

+ Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

** MUST HAVE HIGHER EDUCATION OR NON-PROFIT EXPERIENCE,
** all other experience will not be considered.

** Preferred*
* + CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification.

+ Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizations.

+ Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.

+ Experience supervising both exempt and non-exempt employees.

+

Experience with fund accounting, endowment accounting, or investment accounting.

** Work Environment*
* + Primarily office-based work environment.

+ Flexible work arrangements may be available in accordance with organizational policies.

+ Occasional work outside of standard business hours may be required to meet deadlines and business needs.

+ Regular use of computers, financial systems, calculators, printers, and other office equipment.

+ Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, external partners, and other stakeholders.
