Job Overview
A Lube Tech performs basic vehicle maintenance services, focusing primarily on oil changes and other fluid-related services. It's often a starting point for a career in automotive repair.
Typical Responsibilities
- Oil Changes - Drain and replace engine oil and oil filters.
- Fluid Checks & Top-offs - Transmission, coolant, brake, power steering, and windshield washer fluids.
- Tire Rotations - Rotating tires to promote even wear.
- Air Filter Replacements - Engine and cabin air filters.
- Inspect Belts & Hoses - Look for visible wear or damage.
- Chassis Lubrication - Lubricate suspension and steering systems if needed.
- Basic Safety Inspections - Check brakes, lights, battery, and other basic components.
- Basic automotive knowledge
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Attention to detail
- Physical stamina (lots of standing, lifting, bending)
- Good communication (to interact with customers or service advisors)
- High school diploma or GED Preferred
- On-the-job training is Provided
