Locum - Physician - Surgery - Cardiothoracic Springfield, OH Join a respected health system for an exciting locum tenens opportunity as a Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgeon providing call coverage. This vital role offers the chance to deliver expert surgical care within a full-service acute care hospital, supporting patient health and safety during designated periods. Key Responsibilities:

Perform general CV, thoracic, and vascular surgeries including coronary artery bypass, valve repairs/replacements, aneurysm repair, lung resections (including VATs), chest wall and pleural procedures, esophagus and diaphragm surgeries, and endarterectomy (carotid & renal). Manage ventilation and airway via bronchoscopy and evaluate/manage acute vascular/blood pressure issues. Provide coverage in a 250-bed hospital with 60 ICU beds, utilizing EPIC documentation system. Collaborate with a dedicated team of physicians and mid-level providers to deliver comprehensive surgical care.

Required Skills:

Current board certification or eligibility in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. Proven experience performing complex cardiothoracic and vascular procedures. Strong understanding of perioperative patient management, ventilation, and critical care. Excellent decision-making and communication skills, with the ability to work independently during call shifts. Nice to Have

Skills:

Experience with minimally invasive techniques such as VAT lung resection. Prior experience working in a hospital-based surgical unit with EPIC EMR. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement practices within surgical care. Preferred

Education and Experience:

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Completion of a surgical residency and fellowship specializing in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. At least 3-5 years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting. Other Requirements:
Active medical licensure in Ohio or eligible for licensure. Board certification in surgery, with added certification in thoracic or vascular surgery preferred. Availability for scheduled shifts from 7 am start on selected dates, with coverage during high-volume periods. Ability to travel as needed for coverage and licensing purposes.
