Job DescriptionWho We Are: The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students. Clark Early Learning Center is a 5‑Star rated preschool serving roughly 350 students ages three through five. We value diversity and aim for social and emotional learning growth for all students.
Qualifications- Have current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education with certification to teach Preschool students in a Specialist Learning Classroom (SLC) unit.
- Be in possession of or in the process of applying for The Reading Endorsement or have passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
- Be flexible in your work schedule and willing to attend professional development sessions.
- Be willing to serve on teams that require constant collaboration.
- Have ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
- Teach students with special needs and English Language Learners.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
- Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
- Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encourage parent involvement through observations and volunteer opportunities.
- Actively engage at‑risk students; plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment reflecting understanding of diverse learning styles.
- Recognize the needs of individual students and the group, offering support and flexibility as needed.
- Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out district goals.
- Utilize technology to strengthen teaching/learning processes.
- Lead two half‑day sessions per day for up to 8 students per session.
- Support and remain patient with preschool students as they learn social‑emotional skills.
- Participate in professional development aligned with district and building goals.
- Maintain flexibility, solution‑focused mindset, and enthusiasm in all interactions.
Contracted employee: 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
Starting salary in accordance with negotiated agreement, increasing with experience and education.

The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are working on a new professional agreement; refer to the current agreement for pay and benefits for the 2025‑26 school year.
