Position Summary
* This is a part time temporary summer program position (May
-July)
The Recruitment & Student Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing a targeted recruitment plan to enroll 20-30 eligible students into the Upward Bound Program prior to program start. This role focuses on outreach, applicant follow-up, data tracking, and family engagement to ensure successful enrollment and onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan to meet enrollment targets (20-30 students).
- Conduct outreach via phone calls, emails, and community engagement.
- Follow up on all submitted applications to ensure completeness.
- Build relationships with schools, counselors, and community organizations to generatereferrals.
Application Management
- Review student applications and identify missing documentation.
- Maintain and update computerized rosters and student profiles.
- Track applicant progress and maintain accurate recruitment data.
Student Assessment & Intake
- Assess needs of incoming participants upon entry into the program.
- Coordinate and administer student testing (selection, scheduling, administration, grading,and reporting).
- Communicate assessment results to appropriate staff
Family & Community Engagement
- Conduct home visits to prospective and current students and their families.
- Represent the program in interactions with social agencies and community partners.
- Provide guidance to families regarding program expectations and requirements.
Program Coordination
- Collaborate with the Academic and Career Education Coordinator regarding studentreadiness and placement insights.
- Conduct exit interviews for students who leave the program prematurely.
- Support special projects, events, and program development activities as assigned.
- A bachelor's degree. A master's degree in a closely related field is preferred.
- 1 - 3 years of experience required.
- Knowledge of various academic and psychological tests.
- Knowledge of the federal rules and regulations governing Upward Boundstudents.
- Experience working with federally TRIO-funded programs and target populations preferred.
- Demonstration of sensitivity to the type of student recruited to Upward Bound.
Strong writing and reporting skills, verbal communication. - Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary, strong publicspeaking skills with comfort in front of a large audience are required.
