Job DescriptionWho We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Preschool Teacher/Preschool Intervention Specialist at Clark Early Learning Center for the 2026‑2027 school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students, with 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings. The district values the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of its student body, faculty and staff. Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students, offering a 1:1 initiative and the You Media Center, a digital learning lab providing activities such as 3‑D printing, graphic design and videography.
Clark Early Learning Center is a 5‑Star rated preschool serving roughly 350 students, ages three through five. We are Wildcats!
- Have current dual licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education with certification to teach Preschool students in an integrated classroom (50% general education, 50% special needs).
- Be in possession of or in the process of applying for The Reading Endorsement or have passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
- Be flexible in work schedule and willing to attend or participate in professional development sessions.
- Be willing to serve on teams requiring constant collaboration.
- Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
- Have the ability to teach students with special needs and English Language Learners.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student in your classroom.
- Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
- Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with families, and encourage parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities.
- Actively engage at‑risk students in the learning process; plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of all students, including those with special needs and English Language Learners.
- Recognize the needs of individual students and the entire group, and offer support and flexibility as needed.
- Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of the District.
- Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Implement High Scope curriculum and Conscious Discipline practices with fidelity.
- Capture data using a wide range of tools, analyze that data, and use it to drive differentiated instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
- Support and remain patient with preschool students as they learn social‑emotional skills.
- Participate in professional development activities aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content, and varied student needs.
- Remain flexible, willing to compromise, and maintain a solution‑focused mindset at all times.
- Be enthusiastic about your work and spread joy to students, colleagues, and families whenever possible.
Contracted employee:
Preschool Intervention Specialist – 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
Starting salary in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education.
Contracted employees receive competitive benefits.

The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement. While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement for pay and benefits in place for the 2025‑26 school year.
